We serve the needs of infants and children, including
adolescents and developmentally disabled adults. Enclosed
is a profile of our services.
At Therapy Connection, we are continuously striving
to enhance our professional skills to meet the diverse
needs of our clients. We believe that working together
with the client, the family, and their support system
maximizes individual development and learning potential.
Therapy Connection serves the needs of people birth
through adolescence and developmentally disabled adults.
We accept self-referrals, as well as those from professionals,
schools, and government agencies.
Assessment and treatment services are provided on a
one-to-one basis and in group settings. The goal of
intervention is to use developmentally appropriate activities,
therapeutic techniques and environmental modifications
to facilitate learning and to maximize each individual’s
communication potential.
Presentations to professional groups, in-services,
and consultation services are also available at the
location that best meets the needs of the client and/or
sponsoring agency.
Some of the services that are available to individuals,
their families and the professionals involved in their
care are listed below.
Each individual requires an evaluation prior to the
provision of treatment, consultation and/or home program
strategies. An assessment is billed on an hourly basis
and payment is due on the day services are rendered.
The duration of the assessment is dependant on the individual’s
age, attention span, and presenting concerns. Typically,
a complete assessment of a child may take 1.5 to 3 hours
(not including report writing) and a complete assessment
of an adult may take 2 to 3.5 hours (not including report
writing). The assessment can be scheduled over a few
consecutive sessions or in one block of time.
An assessment includes: case history, informal and
standardized testing, review of reports from outside
agencies, test interpretation, feedback to caregivers
regarding findings, and recommendations.
Goals and expectations are documented and discussed
with the family and the individual at the onset of therapy.
Intervention may be delivered in various formats based
upon the needs of the individual and/or their family.

Individual treatment
sessions are tailored to meet the speech, language and/or
communication needs/goals of the individual, his/her
family, caregiver and/or staff working with the individual.
Individual treatment sessions are available in 1 hour
blocks with 45 minutes of that time being hands-on direct
treatment.
Follow-up/Periodical
reviews are provided on an on-going basis and are scheduled
periodically as a support to families, caregivers, and
staff in regards to therapy programs. Follow-up/Periodical
reviews are typically arranged once a therapy program
has been solidified and successfully implemented. Review/Follow-up
sessions are recommended to ensure that carry-over and
generalization continues to occur in and throughout
the individual’s daily life and routines.
Practical suggestions/Home
programs can be developed to provide fun and challenging
activities to be tried at home. Based on assessment
results, programs are specifically designed to meet
the needs of the individual.
Group therapy programs
provide fun and challenging activities in a group setting
to help enhance learning. Size and structure of the
groups are developed based on the age of the participants,
communication needs/challenges of the group, and activities/goals

Written documentation (such as assessment/progress/follow-up
reports, programs and strategies), review of videotaped
activities, attendance at meetings/case conferences,
etc. is billed at the hourly rate.
Should services be provided in the home, care home and/or
school environment, an additional mileage rate will
be charged.
We welcome the opportunity to provide group in-servicing
and present at workshops and conferences throughout
the province. Fees for presentations are based on half-day/full
day format with travel expenses included.
